Our Organisation

Founded in 2016, CHARIS resettles and provides integration support to refugees and asylum seekers. Through our Welcome Centre in Taunton we provide wrap around support such as English classes, drop-in services, interpretation, social activities, a safe space, benefits support, employment hubs, mental health advice and other support. Alongside this CHARIS provides support services to asylum seekers and a wide range of activities to improve their wellbeing.

Over the past 12 months we have worked directly with over 1300 displaced people, including over 350 asylum seekers. We pride ourselves on our values, and work with a mixed team of staff and volunteers. In response to increasing demand from the refugees and asylum seekers we work with and the wider community, CHARIS is opening a new café, art gallery and events space in Taunton.
